Conformational and hydrodynamic properties of poly(N,N-dimethyl-3,4-dimethylenepyrrolidinium chloride) in aqueous NaCl solution

Viscometry and light scattering methods were used to determine the conformational and hydrodynamic properties of poly(N,N-dimethyl-3,4- dimethylene pyrrolidinium chloride) macromolecules in aqueous NaCl solutions with NaCl concentrations ranging from 0 to 2 M NaCl. The conformational and hydrodynamic properties (such as limiting viscosity number [&#951], second virial coefficient A2, root-mean-square radius of gyration 1/2, Huggins coefficient kH, rigidity coefficient &#948 and degree of chain coiling Q) were determined in relation to the ionic strength (NaCl concentration) and weight average molecular weight of polymers over the range Mu, 2.0105—1.9106 g/mol. Suitable formulas were derived (see Tables 6 and 7)
