Summary

New types of electroconducting materials based on polymers and low-melting metal alloys have been reviewed. Such compositions have the nature of alloys and their structure has the form of interpenetrating metal—polymer networks (INMPC —Interpenetrating Network of Metal— Polymer Composites). The nomenclature rules of INMPCs are presented and several individual systems of this type composed of a polymer [PP, PE, PUR, EPDM or poly(butylene terephthalate)] and two- or few-component metal alloy (mainly composed of Bi, Pb, Sn, Zn and Cd) are discussed. A most promising application of such compositions is in electrode materials for batteries of various types.
