Studies of reactivity of N-vinylcarbazole and its derivatives in radical copolymerization with styrene

Summary

The investigations on reactivity of N-vinylcarbazole and its 3-and 3,6-chloro(bromo)derivatives in radical copolymerization with styrene were performed (benzene, 60°C). Reactivity ratios and Q and e parameters in Alfrey–Price scheme and Q' and e parameters in the modified reactivity scheme were calculated. The influence of halogen substituents in karbazol ring on parameters of Q–e scheme was observed. Linear correlation between values of C α - C β bond order of vinyl group of N-vinylcarbazoles and its halogen derivatives and Q'-constant of these monomers was confirmed experimentally.
