Summary

A mathematical model describing the hopper of extruders has been presented. On the basis of this model, a computer programme has been prepared, which makes it possible to calculate the distribution of material pressure along the hopper height. It has also served fo r the computer simulation of the effect of extrusion parameters on the pressure distribution. It has been found that the pressure at hopper outlet is v e ry low, but its value can change considerably in dependence on the changing conditions of the process and thus the quality of extruder work is influenced.
