An agent for reducing adhesion of polyamide mouldings to moulds

Summary

A group of mould release additives for thermoplastics was developer with a brand name of Morela. On the basis of preliminary experiments, as the most efficient release additive for polyamides Morela ES agent was selected. Addition of 0.2 mass-% of it to polyamide-6 resins (Tarnamid T 27 and Stilamid) efficiently reduced (by up to 50%) the tear-off strength of polyamide versus steel. In the case of Itamid 25 (PA-6 with 25% glass fibre) 0.5 mass-% of Morela ES agent should be added — in this case a reduction by 50% of the tear-off strength of polyamide versus steel was obtained. Simultaneously, a considerable improvement of the mechanical properties of polyamides (in particular of elasticity modulus in tension and in flexure) without change in the thermal resistance properties was obtained.
