An estimation of the supermolecular structure of polyamide fibres coloured in bulk with some pigments
By using WAXS - and SAXS-methods the supermolecular structure of unstrelched and stretched polyamide-6 fibres coloured in bulk with three organic pigments was investigated. From WAXS determinations the degree of crystallinity and content of polymorphic modifications were calculated. SAXS measurements gave long spacing, thickness of intermediate regions, and invariant. It was found that a lamellar structure is formed during the fibre-formation process. Crystalline regions are mixtures of two polymorphic modifications of polyamidc-6: a-modification and у-modification. Content of these modifications depends on the type of pigment used. During stretching the degree of fibre crystallinity, content of a-modificalion and volume of amorphous inlcrphase regions increases. These structural changes are due to stretching and arc independent of the presence of pigments.
