An evaluation of the adequacy of models describing the dynamic mechanical properties of filled vulcanized rubbers

Summary

From among many models providing for changes in modulus with the change of the amount of dispersed phase in multi-phase materials, only several have been elaborated to serve in the case of filled vulcanized rubber. Because a majority of models describing any multi-phase material can easily be adapted to this aim, three such models have been compared with the experimental data. Three models elaborated specially for rubber have also been compared. A poor coincidence of the results obtained from models with the experimental results has been observed, with the exception of phenomenological model of Coran and Patel adapted by the Authors.
