Application of thin-layer chromatography to the dete rmination of chemically unbonded sulphur
in rubber vulcanizates and mixtures
The methods of determination of sulphur in rubber vul- canizates and mixtures by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and sulfite titration have been compared. The TCL method is more accurate, easier and less time-consuming than the classical sulfite method. The curing times have also been compared based on the determinations of free sulphur oy the TCL methods with those determined by means of a rheometer as well as those based on the mechanical properties of vulcanizates.
