A general characteristics of mouldingshrinkage as an important reason of formation of defective parts during processing of thermosetting moulding materials was presented. On example of moulding pieces from phenolic materials the methodology of calculating the number of defective arts based on the statistical characteristics of the dimension under study was discussed. The method can be a tool for the complex evaluation of the impact of industrial plants on the environment on the condition that it will be utilized to limit the number of defective parts.
