Summary

The behaviour of rubber under mechanical deformations has been discussed, some fundamental properties of rubber (intrinsic elastic potential, compressibility, modulus) characterized and problems connected with the calculation of force in function of the deformation of the rubber-metal shock absorbers presented. Some methods used in the examination of the properties of these shock absorbers have been characterized, namely those for testing stiffness, damping, plastic deformability, and the application of the technique of model testing in the design and examination of properties of rubber-metal shock absorbers has been described.
