Characteristics of low-plasma modification of polymers

Fundamental properties of the process of low-plasma modification of external layers of polymers are given. Major differences between the corona-discharge treatment in air and low-temperature plasma modification are pointed out. A commercial equipment and its major subassemblies, used in low-plasma modification of polymers, are described. Cost analysis is given. Major advantages of the process are emphasized, especially generation of no products harmful to the environment, application to articles with sophisticated geometry, uniformity and high quality of modification, easy operability and control, and perfect preparation of the surface for printing and sizing.
