Summary

A mixture of urethane oligomers prepared in a reaction of 2,4- TDI with 1,4-butanediol was analyzed by a GPC technique. Model carbamates were used to ascertain a calibration curve. The products formed in the early stages of the polyurethane chain growth were particularly looked for. This way proved useful for establishing the qualitative composition of urethane oligomers, whereas the internal standard method was suitable for quantifying the chromatograms recorded. GPC chromatograms were thus quantified for 8 fractions of the oligomeric products from 2,4-TDI—1,4-butanediol reaction.
