Chemical modification of styrene – divinylbenzene copolymers with the use of trialkylphosphite
Chloromethylated styrene—dlvlnylbenzene copolymers (intermediates for production of Wofatit type ion-exchangers of gel and macroporous structure) have beer, reacted with trialkylphosphite R=CH3, C2H5) to obtain the cation exchanger with phosphonic functional groups. The Influence of type of phosphite and copolymer Structure on the phosphorylation reaction has been studied. It has been found that the phosphorylation proceeds according Arbuzow's mechanism, as for low molecular mass compounds. The hydrolysis of ester groups of the phosphorylation products has also been studied; iit proceeds only in an acid medium. The ion-exchange capacity and the thermal stability of cation exchangers obtained by the hydrolysis has been characterized.
