Chemo-resistant cement on the basis of furfural-acetone-bisphenol A-formaldehyde (FADFR) resin

FA monomer has been modified with a bisphenol A-formaldehyde resol lesin and a novel reactive FADFR resin in the form of its solution in furfural has been obtained. This resin has been used in the preparation of cements cured with benzenesulphonic acid. The cured cements exhibit a very high mechanical strength and chemical resistance, in particular against the action of alkalis and dilute solutions of oxidative acids, better than similar cements on the basis of phenol-formaldehyde resins. These cements are also satisfactorily resistant to low temperatures. Thanks to these properties FADFR cements can be used in open-air, e.g. in waste treatment plants, water reservoirs.
