Summary

Water soluble salts-chitosan hydrochloride and chitosan sulphate — have been obtained from chitosan of deacetylation degree 70 and 85%. The reaction of chitosan hydrochloride formation is quantitative and molecular mass of the product depends on the time of contact of chitosan with concentrated hydrochloric acid. The degree of chitosan deacetylation during reaction with HC1 changes inconsiderably. The biological activity of chitosan hydrochloride has been investigated. In the reaction of chitosan with sulphuric acid products have been obtained with amino-groups of chitosan substituted partially by sulphamine or sulphate groups.
