Colcrimetric analysis of arbitrary colours scales used in the evaluation of colour of organic products.
Part I. Gardner scale
By the methods of trichromatic colorimetry, an analysis of the Gardner scale, the numerical one prepared according to A.S.T.M. D 1544-68 and the one prepared from salt solutions has been carried out. The values of X, Y, Z and u, v of the individual standards as well as differences in colour — DЕ, chromaticity — DС, and discoloration degree —DWz between subsequent standards have been determined. It has been found that scales are not colorimetrically ordered. The values of DЕ are irregular and are in the range from 2.6 to 16.5. Not all of the solution standards reveal a colour sufficiently consistent with the number parameters. To differentiate among the colours of standards there can be used with success the so-called index of discoloration —Wz.
