Summary

Three types of methacrylic polyesters with metal atoms have been prepared by neutralization with Mg2+ or Ca2+ of polyesters containing carboxylic groups and prepared by step-wise addition. The methacrylic polyesters containing metal atoms can by copolymerized with vinyl monomers (styrene, methyl methacrylate) with the formation of cured polyester resins exhibiting high heat distortion temperature under load and high hardness. The introduction of poly(ethylene glycol)'s into the polyester main chain results in a considerable increase in the impact strenght of cured resin.
