Dependence of the specific volume of the bisphenol-A polycarbonate on its molecular characteristics
The dependence of the specific volume of the linear polydisperse bisphenol-A polycarbonate (PC) on its molecular weight and molecular weight distribution has been described. It has been found that the Fox-Flory relationship valid for polystyrene above its glass transition temperature, v = Ao+A1/M, holds for amorphous PC at 23°C, i.e. below the glass transition temperature of PC. The following values of the constants for PC were calculated: v∞= 0,8338 cm3/g, r∞= 1,1993 g/cm3 and A1 = 27,15 cm3/mole.
