Depolarization characteristics of poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) thermoelectrets in films 2.25 mm thick, grown by the solution growth technique was studied. The effect of various parameters such as polarizing field strength (0.44–4.44107 Vm-1) and polarizing temperatures (304–411K) on the depolarization currents was studied. The activation energy and relaxation parameters have been evaluated. The possible mechanisms of PBT film polarization and depolarization were discussed and the effect of glass transition temperature on the course of investigated phenomena was evaluated.
