Designing articles from plastics with due account of their recycling possibilities.

Part I. What should the designer know?

Polimery 1999, No 4, 275

DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1999.275

The recyclate quality is presented in terms of the cost of its preparation (Figs. 2, 4) and of the associated demands posed to designers (Fig. 3). The demands must be fulfilled, otherwise the post-consumer polymer waste recycling process is not profitable. Correct selection of primary materials is necessary in view of the future recycling process. The article materials should be limited in number and compatible (Fig. 7).

Keywords: recycling of plastics, profitability of recycling, designing of plastic articles with a view to recycling of end-of-life articles
