Determination of molecular weight distribution and branchings in prepolymers of diallyl phthalate isomers
The effect of the polymerization conditions and monomer conversion on changes in the degree of branching and in the molecular weight distribution of soluble prepolymers of diallyl phthalate isomers has been determined. The molecular weight distribution has been studied by the gel permeation method and the degree of branching by the determination of the content of double bonds and changes in the number average degree of polymerization after alkaline hydrolysis of ester bonds. It has been shown that the polymerization conditions (temperature, type of radical initiator and solvent) as well as the degree of monomer conversion exert an essential influence on the properties of prepolymers under study.
