Development of control methods of emulsion polymerization of styrene
The mechanism of action of an emulsifier during emulsion polymerization is considered. It has been proved that the emulsifying efficiency Is increased by the use of a system of ion-generating emulslfler with a non-Ionic emulsifier or a compound of appropriate hydrophillc — hydrophobic equilibrium and of low surface activity (e.g. cetyl alcohol). Thus the polymerization rates and molecular mass of the polymer is increased and the size of latex particles is decreased.
