Summary

The activities undertaken in cooperation by Industrial Chemistry Research Institute (ICRI) and Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology and Chemical Plant ZACHEM S.A. in Bydgoszcz in order to develop anew technology for production of toluene diisocyanate (TDI) were presented. On the basis of literature studies (mainly patents), performed laboratory tests of toluenediamine (TDA) evaporation under astream of nitrogen and design calculations the guidelines for the project of research pilot plant were proposed. Pilot plant tests were successful and resulted in the development of process design of an industrial plant with acapacity of 30 000 tons TDI/year.
