A review of literature concerning the present market situation as well as the prospects in the world production and consumption of copolymers of styrene and acrylonitirle, maleic anhydride, metyl methacrylate and p-and a-methylstyrene as well as block copolymers composed of polystyrene, polybutadiene and polystyrene blocks has been presented. Some processes of modifying these products (e.g.to enhance their aging resistance) as well as several new styrene plastics such as copolymers with reactive groups (macromonomers) and polystyrene blends with phenyl ethers polymers have been discussed. The present market situation in the field of styreneplastics in Czechoslovakia and plans of their future development till 1990 have been also presented.
