Dielectric relaxation in a copolymer of N-vinylcarbazole and divinylbenzene

The effect of the nonpolar crossllnking agent,dlvinylbenzene (DVB), on the character of relaxation processes in poly-N-vinylcarbazole (PVK) has been investigated and the dependence of the relaxation processes of type β and γ on the degree of crosslinking has been observed. Dielectric loss in VK + DVB copolymer as well as in PVK depends on the thermal motions of carbazole group round the C—N bond. The measurements on specific conductivity in alternating field have revealed that both in PVK and in the copolymer, transport of charge carriers takes place via the „hopping" mechanism.
