Disturbing effects of oxygen and of iron compounds on the process of suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride in big reactors.
I. A general characterization of the polymerization and influence of oxygen
On the basis of the conventional radical mechanism some disturbances, appearing sometimes, in the suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride in big reactors have been described. An preliminary explanation of this undesired phenomenon has been suggested, taking into account the interactions of oxygen in the polymerization process.
