Efficiency of belt transmission with toothed belt and with a wheel of variable material characteristics
and injection-moulding parameters
A belt transmission with toothed belt and with a wheel made of Itamid 353 containing lubricant (graphite, molybdenum disulphide, or both) was investigated. The main parameters of the injection moulding of the wheel (hydraulic injection pressure, hydraulic clamping pressure, and clamping time) were purposefully controlled to obtain a maximum mechanical efficiency. In these studies a computer-aided-experiment system including a Psi-Amstrad PC- 1512 was used. The optimum composition of the polyamide material was established, warranting a high mechanical efficiency and an adequate kinematics of the valve gear of internal combustion engines in passenger cars.
