Electrical conductivity of carbon-black containing unsaturated polyester resin Polimal 109

The results of studies of electrical conductivity of compositions on the basis of Polimal 109 polyester resin containing varying amounts of acetylene black have been presenteed. Compositions containing 0.2% by weight of black revealed an increase in conductivity by 12 orders of magnitude accompanied by a change of its character from the thermally activated to metallic one. Similar phenomena have been observed in compositions on the basis of a series of other unsaturated polyester resins. The concentration of carbon black resulting in a rapid increase of conductivity depents on the type of resin and varies in the range of 0.2 – 1%.
