Electroconductive poly(phenylene sulphide) doped with sulphur trioxide

A method of poly(phenylene sulphide) synthesis and the results of elementary analysis, IR-spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction for this polymer were presented. An outline of the vacuum stand for doping polymers and for tests on electrical conductivity has been described and the method of doping PPS with sulphur trioxide characterized. It has been found that doping results in an increase in electrical conductivity of PPS by 14 orders of magnitude. The effect of the duration of the doping operation on PPS conductivity has also been investigated.
