Summary

The applications of rheology in the industry are normally limited to viscometric studies of near-Newtonian liquids, because the known viscoelastic liquids, such as molten thermoplastics, can be studied only at elevated temperatures. The new possibilities of complex studies on the viscoelastic liquids are provided by the boronsiloxane elastomers (KBS) revealing the properties of molten thermoplastics at room temperature. Moreover, the rheological properties of KBS can be modified and samples with controlled viscoelasticity can be easily obtained. In the studies, polymers with Si/B = 150 modified with polydimethylsiloxanes and tin octenate have been used.
