Fatigue strength of Itamid 25 (glass-fibre reinforced Polyamide-6)
In the paper there are presented the results of the investigated time interval and its lower decrease during the tests have been carried out under long-term fatigue load conditions (107 cycles) as well as under natural ageing conditions either with water sorption (τw = 2160 h) or with a long time of exposure (τ ≥ 84 months). It was found that Itamid 25 material presents the following advantages: positive effect of thermal treatment and a relatively high value of the fatigue limit, Zgo, in the investigated time interval and its lower decrease during the full ageing cycle than in the case of reference samples prepared from pure resin matrix. Its drawbacks are, however, a higher rate of ageing and the capillary effect. Moreover, it has been shown that the home-made polyamide-6 (ZA Tarnów) is a material suitable for being used in the manufacture of reinforced compounds, in spite of its high water sensitivity.
