Fatigue strength of elit 25, a glass-fibre reinforced poly(ethylene terephthalate)

Summary

The results of fatigue strength investigations of unfilled PET and PET containing 25 per cent of short cut glass fibres under the following conditions of test: 107 cycles temperature — 298 K, frequency — 15 Hz have been presented. It has been found that the fatigue limit of PET and of Elit 25 changes during the exposure time according to normal distribution. The effect of water sorption, temperature, and thermal treatment on the fatigue limit of PET and Elit 25 has been studied. It has been stated that the modified types of Elit, namely Elit 25u and Elit 30EX, exhibit more advantageous fatigue properties than Elit 25.
