Fourier-transform 13C-NMR spectroscopy in the studies of structure of styrene/vinyl copolymers. Part I. Studies of styrene and/or a-methylstyrene and methyl acrylate and/or methyl methacrylate copolymers
Basing on a literature review the procedures of analysis of alternation of monomers in the statistical vinyl copolymers were established with the use of high-resolution Fourier-transform 13C-NMR spectroscopy. The relevant studies were carried out on the example of four binary copolymers of anear-to-equimolar composition, namely for methyl acrylate/a-methylstyrene (MA/MS), methyl methacrylate/a-methylstyrene (MMA/MS), methyl acrylate/styrene (MA/S) and methyl methacrylate/styrene (MMA/MS) copolymers. The NMR spectroscopy results were compared with the data predicted by the statistical models of participation of МММ, MMS and SMS triads and a good consistence was observed. The values of reactivity coefficients calculated by the Kelen-Tiidos method for each system were utilized.
