Identification of rubbers in vulcanizates of polymer blends

The elaboration of a procedure for identification of the individual components in crosslinked multicomponent systems, namely in vulcanizates comprising the following mixtures: thylene/propylene/dieneterpolymer (EPDM) — natural rubber (NR), EPDM — polychloroprene (CR), EPDM — butadiene/styrene copolymer (SBR), EPDM — butadiene/acrylonitrile copolymer (NBR) and CR — PVC was attempted. As analytical methods served: thermogravimetry (TG), pyrolytic gas chromatography (PGC), and pyrolytic IR spectroscopy. The elaborated procedure enables the identification of polymer mixtures in rubber articles. It was found that such identification is feasible only in the case of using several instrumental techniques in parallel.
