Indigeneous calcined kaolin and its applications

Polimery 1982, No 4, 167

DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1982.167

A process for manufacturing calcined kaolin from scraps formed during the manufacture of glass sands has been worked out. An experimental lot of kaolin has been prepared and used as a filler for rubber cable sheathing. Commercial scale runs have been carried out. This kaolin has also been used as a filler for emulsion, chlorinated rubber, and alkyd paints. These studies have shown a high quality of the pilot-plant calcined kaolin and a possibility of replacing by it the imported microtalc in the industry of paints and varnishes.
