Influence of modified silica fillers on the properties of polyurethanes
Waste and precipitated silica as fillers were modified by organosllanes containing amine or mercaptan functional groups. The influence of unmodified and modified silica fillers on the rate constants of the reaction of tolylene diisocyanate with polyoxypropylene glycol and polyoxypropylene triol, giving urethane elastomers, has been studied. It has been found that the thermal resistance of polyurethanes, its glass transition temperature, values of shear and loss moduli, modulus and time of relaxation and strength properties are increased with the presence of fillers. This last effect is especially evident with the use of silica modified by aminosilane. The optimum content of silica is 20—30%.
