Three types of polymerization taking place in experiments with plasma were characterized, namely: plasma polymerization, polymerization in the plasma state and plasma-initiated polymerization, and correlations between these types cxpłained. A revicw of applications of cold plasma- both polymerizing and non-polymcrizing - for the initiation of solid-state polymerization of various compounds (bcnzene, acrylates, acrylamide, trioxane, tetraoxanc, exachlorocyclotriphosphazene, hexamcthyłcyclotrisiloxane, and N-vinylcarbazole) was prescnted. Examplcs of plasma-initiated successive połymcrization of crystalłinc monomcrs with the participation of solvent, the so-called solvopołymerization, were discussed.
