Internally plastified melamine lacquer resins
Butylated melamine lacquer resins of Meblak type, internally plastified with oligo(butylene adipate) or diethylene glycol, were obtained. It has been found from the properties of lacquer coatings that the internal plastification of melamine resins is much more effective than the plastification by addition of alkyd resins. Chlorosulfonic derivatives of chloroparaffin were also obtained and applied as a new plastifying catalyst fo r setting of melamine — alkyd coat ings at elevated temperature with simultaneous decrease of the consumption of alkyd resins. A preparation of methylchlorodi(sulfochloro)silane was also described. This substance was used as a delayed catalyst for setting of melamine — alkyd coatings where the pot life of lacquer — catalyst system exceeded 6 months as fo r single-component lacquers.
