Investigation on some properties of coal-tar pitch/polymer compositions and their possible applications

Polimery 1993, No 11, 537

DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1993.537

The results of investigations on the effect of type and content of polymers and plasticizers on the properties of coal-tar pitch/polymer composition and on the possibility of preparing new types of bituminous binders were presented. Multicomponent compositions were prepared on the basis of pitch/polymer binders meeting the requirements for insulating-sealing materials. The best compositions contained coal-tar pitch, dibutyl phthalate, PVC, butadiene-styrene latex, balm colophony (adhesive agent) and colloidal silica with talc or ground chalk (filler). The exploitation properties of such compositions were determined and the fields of their application (encapsulating masses, expansion cements, hydroinsulating lining without inserted pads) outlined.
