Ionic copolymerization of sulfur dioxide

Polimery 1995, No 7-8, 410

DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1995.410

The mechanism of the anionic alternating copolymerization of oxiranes and SO2 is described in detail on the basis of own work and literature review. The basic types of reactions proceeding in systems containing SO2 and various heterocyclic monomers, initiated by nucleophilic or electrophilic agents or spontaneously, are presented. Copolymers of sulfur dioxide prepared in ionic copolymerization exhibit low molecular weights and are generalny mixtures of linear and cyclic compounds.
