Mapping of the surface of mouldings from thermoplastics

Summary

On the example of the Polish-made thermoplastics: polyamide-6 (Tarnamide T-27), polyamide-6 reinforced with 35 mass-% short glass fibres (Itamid 353), and polytrioxane (Tarnoform 300) it was shown that a mathematical record of the surface roughness of thermoplastic mouldings as a function of the surface roughness of mould covity and of the injection-moulding process parameters (temperature, pressure), was possible. The values of the corresponding measures, ΔRa and δdRa, being a criterion of the mapping accuracy of the surface of mouldings, in the function of surface of mould cavity, Ran, in the range of Ran-valucs 0.32 - 5.0 pm, vary for different thermoplastic materials investigated, namely ΔRa from +2.80 (Tarnamid T-27) to -1.02 (Itamid 353) and δRa from +0.56 (Tarnamid T-27) to -3.18 (Itamid 353). In respect to high values of Ran the lowest absolute measures of mapping accuracy had Tarnoform 300 and Itamid 353, whereas in respect to low values of Ran - Tarnamid T-27.
