Mechanical strength and resitivity of adhesive joint

Summary

The object of the investigations have been heading joints steel-steel with the use of a non-conducting epoxide adhesive. Electrical conductivity has been obtained thanks to a special configuration of the bonden surfaces, securing the formation of electrical contacts. It has been observed the existence of essential dependencies of the peel strength and electrical resistance on the adhesive layer thickness and on the clamping pressure as well as of the dependence of resistivity on the unit tensile strength. It opens the possibility of developing new methods of controlling both the joint strength and the resistivity of adhesive joints and permits a safe exploitation of such adhesive joints.
