Methods used for the evaluation of the inflammability of electroinsulating laminates, among them the copper–clad laminates and glass–reinforced epoxy laminates for the railway rolling stock, were reviewed. Methods comprise evaluation of ignitability, rate of flame spreading and intensity of smoke evolution. Characteristics of several types of imported fire–retardant epoxy resins used for the manufacture of these types of laminates were given and the results of tests for laminates prepared with these resins discussed.
