Polimery 1994, No 2, 74

DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1994.074

Summary

An analysis of the development of the manufacturing methods used in the production of blow moulded containers made of thermoplastics was presented. This analysis covers the years 1935—1992. There were illustrated the main technological trends prevailing in several periods of that time as well as the achievements in the design and construction of processing machines and tooling. The main methods used in the manufacture of containers were characterized, namely blow extrusion moulding, blow injection moulding, moulding with biaxial orientation of macromolecules as well as blow moulding of multi-layer containers. The main advantages, draw backs and limitations of the specific methods were discussed.
