DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1987.364

The results of electrokinetic and rheological studies of emulsion-PVC dispersions in various primary plasticizers and in a composition of a primary and secondary plasticizer and a modifier have been presented. A series of factors influencing the value of x-potential- of a polymer particie in plastisol have been discussed, among others ionogenic impurities embedded in a PVC grain and derived from auxiliaries used in the vinyl chloride emulsion polymerization (initiators, regulators, emulsifiers). It has been found that the particle charge increase with an increase in the solvation degree of PVC grain by plasticizer. A mechanizm of the effe ct of a secondary plasticizer and modifier on the value of particle charge has been proposed. The rheological studiem have confirmed the existence in a dispersion of processes of spherical-particles deformation and of associated formation, what contributes to plastisol stability.
