MnO2 in the catalytic synthesis of poly(ethylene terephthalate)
The possibilities of employing MnO2 as a singlecomponent catalyst in the process of PET synthesis have been investigated. Theeffect of physicochemical properties of MnO2 preparations on theircatalytic activity has been determined. It has been found that the amorphouspreparation reveal a higher activity in the polycondensation process and theirapplication allows the synthesis of PET in a time by 30 minutes shorter than inthe case of the crystalline preparations. The optimum concentration of thecatalyst and the optimum of the catalytic synthesis of PET have beenestablished by those experiments.
