Modem views on thermal degradation mechanisms in condensation polymer
Determination of the mechanisms of thermal degradation processes occurring in most common condensation polymers has been reviewed over 1975-1995. The main analytical methods are described with particular reference to direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry of the earliest stages of thermal decomposition. The ionic mechanism dominates in the pyrolysis reactions of the condensation polymers. The major pyrolysis mechanisms are presented for several classes of polymers (polyesters, polyamides, polyimides, etc.).
