Modern composite forms of chemical rubber additives and their analysis — 2-mercatobenzothiazole composite

Chemical auxiliaries for rubber processing manufactured in Poland have typically the form of powder or liquid. When used in the rubber industry, they contribute to a large extent to deterioration of the working conditions and cause intoxication and occupational diseases as well as environmental devastation, due to their dusting or evaporation. To control these undesirable effects the use of modern forms of these auxiliaries is recommended, namely of granulate sand microgranulates comprising composites of powder-form substances agglutinated with dispersants and saturated oligomeric hydrocarbons. The elaboration of the methods of preparing composites of 2-mercaptobenzothiazol, arubber accelerator, methods of analysis of these composites and results of evaluation of their efficiency were discussed and presented. The following analytical methods were applied: derivatography, IR spectroscopy, pyrolytic gaschromatography (PGC), and thin-layer chromatography (TLC). Technological tests and determinations of mechanical properties of vulcanizates proved a highefficiency of the elaborated 2-mercaptobenzothiazole composites both inprocessing and in application.
