Modification of PA-6 fibres with glyoxylic acid
The effect of the conditions of the process of PA-6 fibres modification with glyoxylic acid (concentration of acid and activator, temperature, time of reaction) in a homogeneous and in a heterogeneous system on the degree of modification and sorption properties of fibres has been investigated. The modification of fibres enables the reversal of their dyeability with ionic dyestuffs under preservation of the unchanged dyeability with non-ionic dyestuffs. To attain a high degree of modification it is necessary to apply severe conditions in the process, which would contribute to some weakening of the fibres. A preliminary crosslinking of the fibres with 2,4-toluylene diisocyanate prevents this undesirable phenomenon from taking place.
