Summary

The results of modifying PE-LD with aliphatic polyether, glass microspheres, antifogging agent (PPD-92), glycerol monostearate, ethoxyalkyl amine, 2-hydroxy-4-octoxybcnzophcnone and a sterically-hindered amine were presented. The aim of these studies was the development of a new multifunctional agricultural film with improved useful characteristics. The agricultural film manufactured from PE-LD with an optimum amount of modifiers was a stabilized thermoinsulating film (transmittance of infrared radiation below 20%). It exhibited very good anticlectrostatic properties (surface resistivity of the order of 1010 ohms, half-period of charge decay about 1 s) and antifogging properties (D/E class according to the ICI test), high transmittance (about 70%) of visible light responsible for plant growth and high strength properties (tensile strength above 15 MPa, elongation at break above 400%).
